As Power of Attorney (POA) for my elderly, I recently needed assistance with her homeowners insurance. Sharon was my initial point of contact and was extremely helpful in directing me to the appropriate agent when she did not have the authority to make the requested changes herself.

Unfortunately, dealing with my eldery’s assigned agency became an unnecessarily frustrating experience. Despite providing supporting POA documentation and actively working with my attorneys to obtain additional paperwork, I felt the matter was unnecessarily escalated. What concerned me most was that the situation escalated to involving my elderly aunt, whom I was specifically trying to protect from unnecessary stress.

As the situation became increasingly difficult, I requested to transfer her policies to Wendy Burpee, an agent I already knew and trusted, a true family friend.

After submitting the complete POA documentation, I experienced difficulty reaching the original agency and ultimately felt compelled to visit their office in person to resolve the matter.

Meanwhile, Wendy had already reviewed the documentation, taken ownership of the situation, and completed the agent transfer I had requested. By the time the original agency finally agreed to honor my request, Wendy had already taken care of it!

What impressed me most was Wendy’s ability to exercise sound judgment, follow appropriate procedures, and still prioritize the client’s needs. She demonstrated that protecting a client’s interests and providing exceptional customer service are not mutually exclusive.

Sharon also deserves recognition for her helpfulness and professionalism from the very beginning.

Wendy and Sharon exemplify what customer service should be: knowledgeable, respectful, proactive, and genuinely client-focused.

Managing the affairs of an elderly loved one comes with enough responsibility. Having professionals who make the process easier rather than more difficult is invaluable.
